June 4 – Troop
 Meeting – You will be meeting at different locations and different times depending on whether you are going on the Canoe Trek:

  • CANOE TREK PARTICIPANTS: only: Outdoor Swim Test & Canoeing Safety Training (Mandatory for all canoe trek participants) – Please meet at the EAST GALLATIN RECREATION AREA 6:15 PM to 8:30 PM – bring a swimsuit, towel, LONG UNDERWEAR TOP (or Swim Shirt) & FLEECE jacket (one that you can get wet), Class III PFD, rain jacket, warm hat, another warm insulating layer (warm jacket that will stay dry), plus a complete change of dry clothing (extra socks, pants, and shirt).
  • REST OF TROOP: If you are not going on the Canoe Trek – Please meet at The Ridge 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM – Mandatory Swim Test for Summer Camp – if you cannot make this meeting then you will be classified as a non swimmer for summer camp swimming/lake activities (there will be no swim tests at camp).

  • CANOE TREK PARTICIPANTS: 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM – Troop Room – Canoe Trek Gear Inspection – mandatory for all canoe trek participants
  • REST OF TROOP: 6:30 PM to 8:15 PM – Rose Park Disc Golf Course (map here) – bring a Frisbee or “disc golf” disc and dress for the weather.

30-31 – Advanced Outdoor Leadership Skills Course – Meet in Bozeman at 3PM, then we’ll travel to a trailhead in our local mountains for an overnight hike (distance one way about 5 miles). *We can take a maximum of 8 Scouts and 4 adults on this course, with preference given to the PLC, followed by Rank, followed by Age. All Scouts will operate “self-contained” and “solo” (but travel as a patrol) with all of their own gear, food, shelter, etc. Previous backpacking experience (if you are not a PLC member) is strongly recommended (if you are interested in going please contact Mr. Jordan). This is an advanced skills course, with a focus on wilderness self-management, navigation, advanced wilderness first aid, and emergency management.
